Comparing and Contrasting the Play Leash and The Right to Remain

The play “The Right to Remain,” written by Melanie Marnich, is set to address social, political, and modern issues that are likely to affect a family setup. The play has three main characters; Amy, Peter, and Josh. The second play, "Leash," was written by Peter Maloney. The story also contained multiple themes that are implemented by the main character, Cassie Jessup. Both dramas have a strong argument on political injustices. However, both authors have a difference in the way they decide to present the portray political crimes.

To begin with, the similarity between Marnich's and Maloney stories is evident because the plays are solely based on the theme of political inequalities. For example, in Maloney's play, a prisoner is seen being punished and dehumanized at the Abu Ghraib prison. Insults are haled at him without considering his background or whether such names are acceptable on not. This is evident right at the beginning of the play, "the Leash." "Yes, you are, you're my bid boy. With a bid dog as this one, see, you got to let him know you're in control…Don't know that boy? Hey, hey, HEY!" (Maloney 154). This shows how worse the political system was, to a point where prisoners were highly mistreated.
