In our current climate of racial divide and conflict in this country, it is our duty as citizens, especially those in public relations/communication fields, to make sure we understand the history of the people that make up this great nation. I encourage you to read the book on your own some day soon.  For now, we are going to focus on the "Rules" the author has outlined. Diversity and inclusion is rarely covered in PR textbooks for reasons I am sure you can guess. The field of PR lacks diversity. So, how does one communicate effectively in a multicultural society? It's an easy read and more importantly, a good read. I am confident that you will enjoy it and likely learn a lot from reading the book. SECONDLY:  If you have not already, please take the HARVARD implicit Bias test on "race." You will find it here: https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html ( Read the waiver, take test, RACE, begin). Capture your results. Let's talk about your results in class. The result of the test that I took is attached  This is NOT a team assignment PAPER: 1. Discuss your "ahhhh" moments as you read the book, and your first experiences with realizing "race" was a thing.  2. Review the rules in your own words. 3. Discussion of your Harvard results and your thoughts about your results, why you thought you got those results and any action you plan on taking based on the results. (Be sure to read the FAQ FIRST)  4. Discuss some key triggers/issues that lead to failed communications 5. Tell us some successful campaigns/approaches you read about in the rules 6. Leave us with some tips to reach ONE Of the audiences discussed in the rules. 7. How prepared are you to do a campaign to a racial/ethnic diverse audience?
