Classification Essay: Types of Characters

In the few weeks, majority of Kenyans will prepare themselves to watch the premiere of a television show, “Bahati.” Movies are popular among people as they generate ideas and social commentary within society. “Bahati" will express cultural beliefs of Kenyan communities and further shape them. It will let persons formulate long-lasting human connections by allowing them to share their experiences with others.  The film will expand the knowledge of its target audience regarding the world effectively through its featured personnel. A protagonist, an antagonist, and a flat cast are among the types of characters that will play different roles in the film.

            The main character or protagonist will be the most critical person in the show since the story will revolve around such an individual. Hodges, McTigue, Wright, Franks, and Matthews stresses that in most cases a protagonist is a hero, and for that reason, such a character appears throughout a film. An idol in a movie is the person who confronts antagonists and fights against difficult situations to ensure that a story ends with a happy conclusion (Igartua and Jair). For these reasons, in “Bahati," the main character will be an individual at the core of the narrative and one who captures the attention of audience through heroic and courageous acts. A protagonist will not be the only cast in the film, but also an antagonist.
