Charles Lawrence’s essay ‘On Racist Speech’

In his essay on racist speech Charles Lawrence says that the first amendment is not protecting the racial discriminated minority group. The Amendment is punishing the people who discriminate the minority group in private places like in schools. The people who discriminate the marginalized group of people in the public are considered right because they have not pointed out their hate speech to a specific person as it happen in the private places.

Lawrence’s thesis statement in his essay racist speech is that the American constitution should be amended to fully protect the right of the minority group in all avenues including schools and public places. He say hate speech about the minority group amount racial discrimination and so it should be treated.
