Question 1

Working in a meat packaging house over the years has been one of the worst places to work due to their unfavorable working conditions. Workers are subjected to tiresome duties yet receive low remunerations, noise, long hours working, and low job security. An increase in demand for meat products is one of the factors that has led to increased exploitation of workers as they are pressured to produce more to cater to increased demand. Another factor is the readily available cheap labor from the immigrant who doesn't need any job security assurance as they desperately need jobs.

Question 2

Mills are commonly used to produce food products; thus, the millers consider food a resource. Like any other resource in any company, food has an economic value; therefore, production, packaging, and distribution are subject to market forces. Mills and others argue that, unlike any other resource, food is different because it is a basic need that is essential to everyone in daily living. This aspect means that access to healthy food should not be subject to market forces but rather an entirely social responsibility and, thus, should be managed sustainably and equitably.

Question 3

Food instance is one of the emerging issues as it highlights how marginalized groups face numerous challenges while trying to access healthy and culturally appropriate food. Food injustice affecting a particular race, gender, or marginalized group has a unique trait that differentiates it from social injustices. Access to healthy food in low-income neighborhoods and people of color is significantly limited. Women are responsible for feeding their children but are more often subjected to gender-based discrimination, thus making access to healthy food more difficult. These challenges can be addressed by developing policies and approaches that target improving the living conditions of marginalized groups.
