“rose-colored glasses” versus “spiritual eyes” (Hodges & Leonard,
2011, p.89). “In rose-colored glasses I say life is good, and I deny the
reality that life is bad. With spiritual eyes I say life
is bad but God is good, and there is a world of difference between those”
(Hodges & Leonard, 2011, p.89).

Challenges
and Benefits of Having a Perspective of Spiritual Eyes
The main challenge of having the
perspective of spiritual eyes is that one will always anticipate bad things in
life. The idea of view life from 'spiritual eyes' perspective is that life is
considered to be naturally bad, and hence, people tend to anticipate the worse.
An Acknowledgement that life is bad denies people an opportunity to be happy
and live freely without fearing what will happen tomorrow or the other day. Instead,
the Bible teaches us to rejoice and be happy. John 16:22
"Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your
heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you."
However, having spiritual eyes is not entirely bad because it also comes with some benefits. For example, one learns to learn onto God to guidance when life gets hard. The reality of life is that it can be complicated and well look upon God to sustain us in our lowest moments. Such moments could be when we have experienced extreme grief. This way, a person with a spiritual eye will not recognize challenges in life. The Bible in 1 Corinthians 15:55 says "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"
