Goals/Overview: This assignment offers practice writing a persuasive essay, in which you back up a claim (stated in your thesis within your introduction paragraph) with supporting points and solid evidence/examples (explained in your body paragraphs) to try and convince your reader about your ideas on a particular topic. Our topic for Essay 2 relates to environmentally conscious changes made by individuals, why personal change can be important or helpful, and how change can be achieved within the practical constraints of daily life. Here are some questions to consider: how do personal choices impact the environment; what personal responsibilities do we (as consumers) have toward others; and what is the individual’s ability to impact the environment?
