Animal welfare can be defined in different ways. Anyone working with captive or wild animals should have a clear understanding of the concept and how to promote animal welfare. Refer to the learning materials for this week and locate one additional scholarly source on animal welfare. Then draft a definition of animal welfare in your own words. Attempt to write a holistic definition of animal welfare that considers biological functioning, affective states, and promotes natural behavior.

After drafting your definition identify possible types of enrichment for the animal species you are focusing on for your course project. Include one possible example of each type of the 5 types of enrichment (sensory, feeding, social, cognitive/manipulative, and physical enrichment). Remember some enrichment items may cross into more than one category. You may note if this is the case, but still provide 5 total types of enrichment. 

End with a reflection on how the enrichment items you picked may help promote animal welfare given the definition you provided.
