Buddhism Religion
Introduction
Today, the world has many belief
systems, particularly about regions, due to increased rights and freedom for
worship. Traditionally, many religions were grounded on community values
exercised primarily by the people in a particular community. While this view is
still predominantly accurate to data, it is also apparent that many religious
beliefs have dispersed globally and are now practiced in different parts of the
world. However, religions and beliefs on faith continue to be shaped by the
traditional values and culture of different communities. People's manner of
worship continued to be passed down across generations, with the young
generation copying the practices they found growing up. At the same time, the
new generation tends to have diverging uptake of religion, with more demand for
participation in religious matters over traditional passive (Flory and Donald 235). Many types of
religion have come to light throughout learning, such as Jainism,
Sikhism, and Hinduism. This research paper digs deep into the Buddhism regions
and answers pertinent questions about the knowledge gained during the learning
period.
Why did you select this tradition
to research?
I elected Buddhism for two main
reasons. First, Buddhism is an old religion that does not seem to have changed much
over the centuries it has been practiced. According to Groves and Roger, Buddhism is the least changed form of religion,
surviving many years of practice with its followers holding onto the same
principles, values, and belief systems. This is one of the key reasons I
selected Buddhism for this research paper because, unlike other religions, this
religious group's principles of faith, ideologies, and doctrine remain
unchanged. With traditional ways of worshiping, retaining membership, and
scaling to religious leadership, Buddhism continues to follow the same
principles that predominated several decades ago. This makes the faith group
remain focused by passing down.
Secondly, I selected Buddhism religion because
it is fascinating to me in the sense that I find it highly concentrated in a
particular region of the world. For example, today, Buddhism is predominantly
practiced in Southeast Asia in Burma, Thailand, and Mongolia, among others such
as Thailand and Sri Lanka. Josephson (151) indicated that Siddhartha Gautama
started Buddhism in India.
The practice of this religion continues to follow a specific path, with most of
its concentration happening in Asian countries. Unlike other religions, visiting
non-Asian countries and finding a Buddhist worship center or even a believer is
untypical.
Did you find any conflicting
information? If so, what? Which sources are the most reliable, and why?
Information provided by different pieces of research and the class reading book seems to contain well-synchronized information regarding the Buddhism religion. From group organization, leadership, practices, and belief systems, research by Flory, Donald, Groves, Roger, and Josephson concur with most of their findings. The selected reading materials were reliable in offering insight into the selected religious group. The readings showed that Buddhism...
