The purpose of this assignment is to give you some experience in “providing leadership in the evaluation and resolution of ethical and legal issues within healthcare systems relating to the use of information, information technology, communication networks, and patient care technology.”Read the Krumholz (2014) article, plus at least two articles (or websites or blogs) of your choice (from 2013 or later). The July 2014 issue of Health Affairs (vol 33, no. 7) has many articles to choose from, but they might not be exactly what you're looking for (an answer!). Your mission is to form and defend an opinion about the role of nurses or clinicians and "big data". You should write an opinion statement informed by literature that addresses the following points:Should nurses (or clinicians) be included in this discussion? Why or why not? If yes, how? Be sure to include definitions if they are needed.How does the push to big data impact nursing (or clinical) practice? Does the push to big data impact your future goals?What are your recommendations for clinical professional organizations in terms of potential policy development in the new world of "big data healthcare"?You will be assessed on how well you integrate the Krumholz article and other sources to support your views on big data and clinical practice.  This is an opportunity to inject your own opinions and to contribute to a broader ethical and policy discussion that is occurring nationally.
