Instructions: 

• Locate the Strategic Plan OR Mission Statement (write about either or--not both) of a health organization of your choosing.  (Search for others; there are plenty in all specialties and services.)  Don't write on the same organization/unit that a classmate did.
• Write at approximately 750-1,000 words about what it includes and how it fits in with your learning (in Chapters 1, and particularly Chapter 2).   
• What insights can you derive from what you located?   (Into being a patient, stakeholder, worker, etc.)
• How does the organization appear oriented?
• Are the mission, vision, value, and goals clearly stated?
• If the plan you view or locate is comprehensive in nature, narrow down one goal of your choosing, identify/describe the type, write about how the specific goal translated into action, and what actions the facility took to implement it (some may also have outcomes).  
• What suggestions could you make as a healthcare leader or administrator in carrying it out in the service area?
• Include what you learned and how it impacts you as a worker in healthcare, future worker, patient, loved one of a patient, or someone in the future who will need those services.
• What else stands out to you?
• How has this assignment enhanced your knowledge of gathering insights from the Strategic Plans or Mission Statements of healthcare institutions?  How can this information be helpful to you or others in the future personally or professionally?
