About Lockheed Martin

In August 1912, Glenn L. Martin started the Glenn L. Martin Company. As an innovator, Martin followed the advice of Orville Wright and built his first plane in a rented church in Los Angeles. In December 1912, Allan and Malcolm Lockheed established, the Alco Hydro-Aeroplane Company, later renamed the Lockheed Aircraft Company. In their garage, the Lockheed brothers specialized in the production of seaplanes.
