90-Second Business Pitch Idea

INSTRUCTIONS:

90-second Business Idea Pitch Guidelines This is a .docx (Word) or .pdf script of you individually discussing elements of your business idea using the “90-second business idea pitch scorecard” as its structure. • Your audience is a room of people who have general interest in hearing about ideas for new businesses, small businesses, and/or family businesses. There could be investors in the room, but in order to have them gain true interest in you and your business idea, they would need to hear a business model presentation then read your business plan. This is called “getting nexted.” The objective of a pitch or presentation is to get a meeting. At that meeting, then you talk details, such as investment, etc. (but probably not even in that next meeting yet). This 90-second business idea pitch is a simpler way, and in a shorter 90-second time frame, to communicate the most important parts of your business idea. It is not easy, but entrepreneurs must be prepared to get to the point quickly! • Use the “90-second business idea pitch scorecard” as your structured guideline to answer all relevant questions about your business idea in that 90 seconds. This will take a few practices! • Your business idea can be based on a new product, a business or nonprofit you want to start, a business you want to buy, a franchise you want to buy into, or a family business you want to be an owner of eventually. • Submit to Canvas your script in a Word (.docx) or .pdf document by the deadline in the Syllabus. Your script will be graded just as a Writing Emphasis (WE) course paper would be for grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. It should be double-spaced and have your name on it. Make sure to carefully pro.ofread your script! I do not need an APA title page for your script. I just need your name on it, double-spaced lines, and the words of your script. That is it. Note 1: your pitch is not an advertisement! Open with a customer story or two statistics that most of us in the room will not know. Then, introduce yourself as the founder of (the name of the product or the organization). Carefully follow the scorecard. The scorecard is your assignment rubric. If you do not know the terminology on the scorecard, do not overlook that part of the rubric. Part of owning and/or managing a small business, startup, or family business = being resourceful! Start with Google and keep going on that learning!
